Getting High Quality Links Is Easy

Getting High Quality Links Is Not As Hard As You Think

Here are some of the proven methods that the best of the best use to build links to their site(s) without spending a dime.

    Ask and You Shall Receive

This is probably the easiest and most effective way to get links to your site. Want the top dogs in your niche to link to you, send them an email with an introduction, the content you want them to link to, and a brief reason why they should link to. Build an email list and keep adding contacts to it as time goes on. Don’t be afraid to ask for a link. Asking for a link is similar to asking for help and everyone always say’s “Don’t be afraid to ask for help.”

Build a Network to Network With

Do what the popular people did in high school - build a network, then work it!

Remember all of those names you were adding to your email list? Link to others within this list, when you do, send them a note that you did. Answer thier link love requests with links from them. Ask questions, exchange knowledge, tips, etc. Get to know these folks personally. Just because you’ve never met them before (or may never) does not prevent you from becoming friends with them. The web is a popularity contest just like high school. The more friends you have, the more links you will get, and the more popular you will be (good and bad).

    Play to People’s Desires

    Are you a relative unkown?

No problem. Build a “top” list an include all of the sites you want to have link to you. This works everytime. Every person in this world wants to be recognized - know this. Everyone in this world wants everyone in the world to know how great they are - use this. Recognition is always good, and is always repaid with a link (note: not everyone will link, but a great majority will)

    Give First, Recieve Second

Want Aaron Wall, Shoemoney, Rand Fishkin, or Lee Odden to link to you? Start linking out to them. Everyone checks to see who is linking to them. When they see a new link I am willing to bet they click to see what that site is all about. Maybe they don’t link right away, but keeping doing it, they will eventually.

    Just Blog

Every site should have a blog. Build one, write some stuff, and people will link to you. Blogs were built for linking.

    Create Something Cool

This is the hardest way to get a link, but requires the least amount of continued maintenance. One great post, article, product, or service could bring in an unlimited amount of links. It is tough, but it happens everyday.

    Interview People

Ask people a few questions via email and post it on your site. Let the person or company know when you have done so. They will link to you (see play to people’s desires).

    Add Value

This is an important part of just about anything you might do professionally.
Start contributing on forums, blogs, wiki’s, and the like. If you are continually bringing something to the table, it gives people a reason to check out your site. If you never add any value, through any of these strategies, why would anyone want to be in your network, read your blog, visit your site, or link to you. Adding value is easy. It is done automatically through many of the link building strategies listed above, but being aware of the opportunities to add more is key and definitely a future topic.
